Contrasting and Comparing Lives

This book is a way of realising that although miles apart in both distance and lifestyle, two countries can share so many parallels. It captures a range of contrasting images between life in the townships of South Africa and at home here in the UK.

The images from Middleburg were taken by the children who live in the Dianne Lang care home, and depict the rawness and simplicity of their lives, whilst highlighting the difference love and care can make. In stark contrast, Dan Bolan’s Photography has produced a set of parallel images taken here in the UK.

‘This book is a way of realising that although miles apart in both distance and lifestyle these countries really are interconnected and have much in common.’

Through sales of the book we can make a difference to the lives of these children and their everyday care, schooling and health. All of the proceeds from its sale go directly to the Dianne Lang Foundation where Dianne and her staff live by the mission statement “To boldly make a difference to the suffering of others”. The books are £20 each, and every penny of that goes a long way to helping the children depicted on the pages.

The book has been produced by the Grace Foundation in conjunction with the Dianne Lang Foundation, Dan Bolan’s Photography and Why Create Limited, who designed and compiled these pictures and stories.
