Success Stories: St George's Crypt

St George’s Crypt has been caring for vulnerable and disadvantaged people since 1930. When the Crypt was offered 30,000 donated meals, we were able to organise cold storage and help feed the homeless throughout 2006.

Success Stories: St. George’s CryptAlthough the priorities have changed with the times, St. George Crypt’s key objectives of making life a little easier for disadvantaged people and promoting evangelism remain constant. In December 2005, the Grace Foundation received a cry of help from the Crypt when they were offered 30,000 airplane meals to feed the homeless and vulnerable people in Leeds. With no cold storage facilities, the Crypt faced the prospect of having to throw almost every meal away. Through our network of contacts, we were able to arrange and fund the storage of the donated food. Since then, the Foundation has been working in conjunction with the Crypt to provide permanent on-site cold storage and support a National campaign against food wastage.

“St George's Crypt exists to provide practical care and support for people less fortunate. The Grace Foundation UK has provided practical support for vital equipment and transportation of food which has proved vital in improving the lives of 120 people every day that otherwise would have little food to sustain them.”
