In April 2006, we took 100 local children to watch snooker ace Shaun Murphy play against footballers from Doncaster Rovers. The children were also able to share tips with Shaun and every child took home a free goodie bag.
To encourage young people in the Doncaster area to take up sport and promote a healthy lifestyle, we took children from local schools to watch snooker ace Shaun Murphy, play against a Doncaster Rovers football pro at the Riley’s Snooker Club. Shaun, who was due to begin his defence of his World Championship title, was more than happy to come along to share tips with the budding young snooker stars. The event was hosted by The Grace Foundation UK in association with Beresfords Solicitors and Rovers in the Community.
“The snooker event organised by The Grace Foundation helped Doncaster Rovers to promote sport to schoolchildren at a grass roots level. Having a snooker star from Rotherham, coupled with one of our top players meant that the day was a great event for the kids. The Grace Foundation’s intervention helped highlight our mission to make sport accessible and enjoyable - inspiring a passion for sports participation.”
